No one can say with any certify how things will play out. Most likely the power conferences would play a 9 game conference schedule (7 division and 2 cross-division) which would mean 3 OOC games. As I said in another post it will most likely be a gradual process. First, all the power conferences agree to ban playing FCS schools to help satisfy their network's need for more content. Then at some point the demand for better content will result in the conferences requiring 2 P5 games instead of only 1. Some time will pass before the demand for better content which will result in the demand for 3 P5 games.

If you look at it from an expansion standpoint, then just about everyone would agree there are very few G5 candidates (if any) worthy enough to justify a power conference to expand to 16 or more members. If the power conferences aren't plucking from any of the G5 conferences, then they are plucking from each other. Once they start plucking from 1 power conference, then it will be nearly impossible for 5 power conferences to still exist without resorting to adding current G5 members. If the P5s become the P4, then the Committee has a choice to either award the 4 Playoff bids to the 4 P4 champions or start awarding multiple bids to 1 conference. If the Committee doesn't ever commit the taboo of awarding multiple bids to 1 conference, then it is a natural progression for the P4 conferences to decide to award Playoff bids to their 4 champions.
